Kavel was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. He was a biochemistry major at NC State University. Upon graduating from NC State, Kavel attended the University of Tennessee’s Pharmacy School.

Directly out of school, Kavel began working at Target, in the Pharmacy. He quickly found himself disillusioned by the focus on revenue instead of patient care, and began looking for a better way to serve his community.

Kavel’s search led him to Carolina Pharmacy Arboretum (celebrating its 100th anniversary this year).

He currently works at Carolina Pharmacy in Charlotte (Arboretum), NC, as the pharmacy manager.  In his down time, Kavel loves to travel, and is a dedicated collector of designer shoes. He also loves to try new local restaurants with his wife, Shannon.
